Hello Everyone! It is time for a new challenge at AAA Cards – Inspired by a TV Show. Since I rarely watch tv, this one had me scrambling. The design team has some clever inspiration for you. What will you come up with?
Frosty the Snowman – Happy Holidays
After much thought I decided to create a frosty the snowman card. My Sister and I used to watch Frosty the Snowman every year when we were growing up. The Gina K. Holiday Season stamp set has the cutest snowman and the coordinating die set has an inverted circle die. The snowman fits nicely within the circle.
Determine where you want your snowman placed. I did this by taking both the snowman stamp and the inverted circle die and moving them around on an A2 top folding card base until it was pleasing to me. I then dry embossed the inverted circle on the front of the white card base and stamped the snowman inside the circle.
Now you will want to color the sky and the snowy ground. To make this easier cut a mask with both the inverted circle die and the snowman die. Note: Since you are coloring inside of the circle you are not using the circle die-cut but the negative circle die-cut. Apply the masks and then color. I used tumbled glass distress ink for the sky. Notice that I was not fussy about blending, I just applied the color. This results in a nice texture. The snowy ground is Simon Says Stamp fog ink and then a few dashes of white gel pen.
Remove the masks and color the snowman. I colored with my copics and then added some additional interest to the hat (nuvo glitter drops) and to the eyes, mouth and buttons (black gel pen).
Finally stamp the sentiment in VersaFine onyx Black.

How sweet! I struggled with this theme too, but it’s such fun reading about the choices of shows, isn’t it!

Great use of a dry embossed shape to place your image Tracie. And such a great show to pick, especially with Christmas coming ever closer!
