I am back today with my second project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This card is the result of the All About Layering 2 course, taught by Nicole Picadura. All About Layering 2 is a continuation of the All About Layering 1 course and reinstates the use of matching points, arrows and even circles to help line up layering stamps. I was inspired by Lesson 6, where Nicole uses the Altenew Painted Rose stamp set.
For my card I used the Altenew Brush Art Floral stamp set for the flower and the stem. This reminded me a lot of the stamp used in lesson 6. Altenew did not intend this set to be a layering set, but I think it works well. I layered the two smallest full rose flowers. The bottom layer is Altenew Rose Quartz ink and the the top layer is Altenew Cosmic Berry Ink. I made sure the top layer was covering some of the white spots in the bottom layer. I love the contrast of the lighter and the darker ink and that there are still a few white spots.
The stem is stamped in Altenew inks: Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades and Lava Rock. I applied Frayed Leaf ink to the entire stem stamp and then I applied Forest Glades and Lava Rock to just a couple of areas. Then I stamped and am quite happy with the result. The sentiment is from the Altenew Floral Shadow stamp set and is heat embossed in gold glitter. I wanted to add a couple of simple finishing touches. First, I added a mat in an olive color that coordinates well with the stem. Using the olive does not distract the flower from being the focal point. Second, I created horizontal score lines every half inch on the front of the card base. Finally, I added dimension by popping up the flower panel with craft foam. I am really happy with how my card turned out and hope you like it too.
I am working on a card for the Clean & Simple Boutique Cards course, so I will return soon with another project.
