Hello Everyone! I am happy to be sharing a fun project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program. My card was inspired by the Seasonal Scene Building class that was taught by the amazing, Nichol Spohr.
For my card I created a Spring wildflower garden. The color palette was inspired by the Pantone Spring 2018 colors. Even though this is a simple one-layer card, dimension was easily added through masking. Quite happy with how it turned out. Scene cards intimidate me a little, so I shy away from them. Thank you for challenging me, Altenew.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cut and score an A2 card base and set-aside.
- Cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ panel.
- Create the grass and sky with ink cubes. I directly applied to the white cardstock from the ink pad. (I really like the resulting texture.)
- Create masks for the flowers. I used post-it notes to create the masks.
- Stamp floral scene.
- Color flowers. I used prismacolor pencils: PC995, PC922, PC915, PC989, PC105 and PC932. I kept the coloring simple.
- Add black glaze gelly roll to the centers of the large flowers.
- Stamp sentiment.
- Adhere card panel to the card base.
Sorry for the short break. This Winter has been challenging my asthma, so I am running behind on things. Looking forward to creating a card for Irresistible Inking Techniques.

Love the artsy look of your pretty scene, Tracie. I struggle with scenes and colour combos, but sometimes it’s good to challenge yourself and venture out of your comfort zone.
