Hello Friends! It is a beautiful sunny day in West Michigan and I hope it is where you are too. I just finished another card using items from the May 2018 Essentials by Ellen release and had to share. Again, this release contains 7 amazing new designs by Julie Ebersole. Today’s card was created with: Mondo Sakura stamp set and coordinating dies, Classic Block Alpha dies, Totally Random Sayings Vol. 2 stamp set and a prior release set, Wonky Backdrops.
For this card I started by stamping the dotted background on an A2 white card panel. I used the dotted backdrop stamp found in the Wonky Backdrops stamp set. The stamp actually has more white space, but there is just enough room to shift and stamp again with a tiny bit of overlap. This fills up the background nicely and would be fun using two different colors, but this time I stuck to just one. Then I stamped the Mondo Sakura flower in versafine onyx black ink and clear heat embossed. Once the heat embossing was dry I cut out the flower using the coordinating Mondo Sakura die. At this point I focused on the sentiment. I know I wanted it to be kindness related, so I die-cut kind in black using the Classic Block Alpha dies. These dies are fabulous at approximately 3/4 inches. I may just have to leave them on my craft table for frequent use. Kind was not enough, so I took a moment to look at the sentiments in the Totally Random Sayings Vol. 2 stamp set. You really are was the winner for this card. Repeat stamping was used again, this time directly on the A2 white card base. With the help of some low tack tape and a stamp block with grids this was super simple to stamp repetitively along the right side of the card. I used the same color as the dotted background, but second generation.
Finally, it is time to assemble the card and add a couple of finishing touches. I adhered the Mondo Sakura to the bottom of the card base with foam tape, making sure to leave the edges free so the flowers could be turned up a little bit. Then I adhered the kind sentiment with foam tape. I wanted to add a couple of simple finishing touches that were not too distracting so I went with adding white gel pen to the stamens, applying clear wink of stella to kind and then outlining kind using a stardust gelly roll pen.
You really are kind for stopping by my blog today. I hope you enjoyed my card and maybe it even inspired you a little bit. I am looking forward to seeing your creations using this outstanding release.
